J & M MURDOCH & SON have been recognised as one of the most inspirational enterprises in Britain and has had article featured in THE BARRHEAD NEWS today.

J&M Murdoch & Son Ltd, which has been based in the village since 1998, was listed on the London Stock Exchange’s report on 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain. The report is an annual celebration of some of the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK.  Based in Crofthead Industrial Estate, the family-run business was started by Margaret and Ian Murdoch in 1965 and now provides transportation, waste management, disposal and recycling services to central Scotland.

With two other premises in Paisley and Darnley,  south Glasgow, the business has quickly become one of the most well-known organisations in the area.

Managing Director Andrew Murdoch, who now runs the business alongside Tony Cairns and his siblings John and Helen, said the London Stock Exchange honour came out of the blue.  He told the Barrhead News: “We didn’t even know we were in the report until a letter came through the door. “It came as a nice surprise.  “We wouldn’t be where we are today without our employees, so we really owe our success to them.”

The recognition has also been celebrated by East Renfrewshire MP Paul Masterton, who is full of praise for the company.  He said: “It was a pleasure to be able to recognise the success of J&M Murdoch & Sons at the House of Commons. Being named as one of the 1000 companies to Inspire Britain in 2018 by the London Stock Exchange is no mean feat.   “The recognition is very much well deserved and is a credit to the hard work put in by John, Andrew, Helen and Tony. “I wish them all the very best for the future as they continue to be a beacon of success in East Renfrewshire, Scotland and the UK.”
